Held every year for more than a decade as the “Torch Race”, in 2019 there was a change of theme for the race. This was mostly because we did not have a torch for the racers to run to, so we used a piece of driftwood instead and voila! The Driftwood Challenge was born! The race will continue to be held every year, and is open to everyone. Young or old, boys and girls, kids and grown-up, everyone races together for the coveted title of Fleet Of Foot And Beloved Of Pan!
We have seen teenage girls beat the whole pack – men past their prime pull ahead at the end – brothers running neck and neck – the full range of intense athletic competition! All are welcome to race!
